I’ve been obsessed with cast iron cooking for three months. My food has never been better and somehow I’m under budget on my groceries. As someone who spends an insane amount of money on groceries, this is meaningful. We’ve been eating fairly healthy and homemade, and I’ve been cooking up a storm and enjoying every minute of it. There is another component that we haven’t talked about yet: enameled cast iron. Enter Milo cast iron. What a find!

Affordable Luxury

This beautiful, sleek, modern cast iron cookware is completely affordable and about the third of the price of the two well known brands. I’ve had Le Creuset before and I really can’t tell a difference. Normally I don’t lead with price because I believe in quality over quantity. I don’t mind paying more for something that will last forever and performs. But with Milo, you get affordable, luxurious cookware at an attainable price. Why not have your cake and eat it too?

When you want to use Enameled Cast Iron

Why would you want to use enameled cast iron? You want to use enameled cast iron when you’re cooking acidic foods like things with a tomato base because it can eat away at your seasoning. With the enameled cast iron, you don’t have that concern. You also don’t have any seasoning maintenance to worry about.

Low Maintenance

The cardinal rule for cast iron is never ever put it in the dishwasher or let it soak. Well that’s not the case with enameled cast iron. It’s okay to put Milo cookware in the dishwasher. Personally, I just wash my pots and pans by hand, but I know a lot of people prefer to wash them in the dishwasher and with these you can. And if you have something sticking on the bottom, you can put some non toxic dish soap and hot water in the bottom and let it soak over night. By morning, it should clean right up.

Milo Cast Iron Skillet

Let’s talk about the skillet first since skillets have been my focus. This is the perfect skillet for making tomato based food, or things with a tomato sauce, like enchiladas or skillet lasagna. I made enchiladas and they turned out perfect. My only nitpick with this skillet is that the bottom has a rough texture. I’ve gotten used to the smoothness of my other cast iron andI prefer smooth. I would not try to cook an egg in this one. But the Milo is sooo pretty! It’s a gorgeous skillet with that high gloss white, it looks beautiful on the stove and tabletop.

Milo Cast Iron Dutch Oven

This is my favorite Milo piece. A cast iron dutch oven is a cookware basic that is a workhorse in the kitchen. I was worried about cooking tomato sauce in a white pot, but it did not stain at all. I’ve made pizza Sauce, Beans & Greens, and pasta sauce. It performed much better than my stainless pot. You get a nice even heat to the food which is really nice for all day Sunday sauce. When the weather warms up a little more I’m going to bake sourdough bread in this pot, I can’t wait to try it out!. No matter how much I blast the heat, bread doesn’t like rising in my house in the winter and sourdough is tricky. I’ve had so much success with cast iron, I want to stack my odds.
