Where to STAY in Banff

Staying at the Rimrock Resort Hotel is like sleeping in the mountains, only in total luxury. Being able to open my curtains to wall to wall windows and see the magnificently imposing presence of craggy mountains right in front of me was spectacular. It brings back the old fashioned meaning of the word AWEsome.  When you see mountains right up in your face like that, it makes you feel as though you are in the midst of gods. It’s moving. And jarring. And to be able to experience it in cushy luxe comfort, well that’s pretty awesome.

Rooms are elegant and comfortable with leather chairs, open space and plush beds.  A huge lobby with floor to ceiling windows and comfortable seating provides a communal gathering area around a giant fireplace.

The pool is indoors and is long enough to swim laps. This hotel has two lounges, one with a cozy English pub vibe and the other with a sassy Hollywood diva theme. We didn’t have a chance to enjoy food in the restaurants but did order room service and sat glued to the windows in the room.

You are right there in the wilderness at the Rimrock. Wildlife is seen from the property on a regular basis including elk and bears. It’s a great location for hiking (the concierge will give you bear spray if you ask) and is also in close proximity to the Upper Hot Springs and The Banff Gondola.

Where to EAT in Banff

Ask anyone in Banff where the best pizza in town is and they will all say the same thing: Bear Street Tavern. and they are Not Kidding. It’s basically a big sports bar located on the main street that runs through town. Nothing that looks too amazing until you taste their craft brew (Summer Hef was crazy good) and enjoy pizza their way. Then it starts feeling cozy.

The magic is in the condiments. Served with honey and rosemary chili oil, the pizza is delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Go hungry after some outdoor activity, the kind that makes you ravenous. Then you will get that satisfaction that only comes with beautiful outdoors and great food.
