When you go to Victoria, British Columbia, you’ve got to have the Afternoon Tea experience. Venus Sophia is a quaint Vegetarian Eatery that serves up a lovely version of tea time, and I always get excited about a vegetarian-specific restaurant, especially when they use organic and local ingredients. At Christmastime, the Holiday Afternoon Tea is a wonderful way to celebrate the season.
The atmosphere is wonderful, with eclectic decor and a cozy, comfortable vibe. This is an informal tea setting, but it still feels like a fancy tea party with dainty tea cups, finger sandwiches and sweets. I love the relaxed, homey feeling at Venus Sophia, and a slight edginess with bicycles on the wall and high industrial ceiling with exposed pipes.
Venus Sophia is a kid friendly place and my son loved his hot chocolate and tantalizing variety of sandwiches and cakes to choose from. It is a thrill for children, as it is for adults, so if you are in Victoria with the whole family, this is a great choice for a local afternoon tea experience pleasing to all ages. Adults have their choice of high quality teas, served beautifully in your own individual pot with beautiful tea cups.
We had little chocolate treats that looked like presents, frosted pound cake, and scones with creamy butter and jam. The savory treats were just as delicious and included little sandwiches and tiny quiches. Food is so much more fun to eat served up this way, who doesn’t love a tea party?
Everything is home made and tastes delicious, and the friendly servers make you feel welcome. Venus Sophia is located in charming Chinatown, so when you are done enjoying your afternoon tea, you can stroll around and enjoy the shops and ambiance. Find out more on the Venus Sophia website.
