When I’m traveling, I love to get different perspectives of the destination. I like to see it by air, by bike, by water, etc. Vancouver is a spectacularly beautiful city, so you want to see it from every possible angle. A Sea Vancouver Zodiac Tour sight seeing tour is an exciting, family friendly way to see the city by water, especially if you like to go fast. The vessel reaches about 35 mph which feels pretty fast when you’re on the water. When you get far enough away from the shore, you take off like the wind and it’s really fun to feel that speed, the boat almost seems to lift right off the water at times. My son had to sit in the front of course, and he loved it.
As soon as you take off, it’s fun. Just being on the boat is a thrill, but when it gets going fast, it’s exciting. It never felt unsafe–the boat is very sturdy, it’s not like being in a dinghy at all which is kind of what I expected, it feels like a regular small boat.
Our skipper was full of information and always told us where we were and what we were looking at. He was happy to answer any questions and he had just the right amount of mischievousness to make the tour fun.
This is a view of Yaletown (a great neighborhood to also see on foot by the way). See that building right there? That is the Erickson Building where you can grab a condo for about three million and up. They say the penthouse has a glass bottom pool. It’s a gorgeous building, right? Vancouver has amazing architecture.
Aquabus
When you’re on the water, you’re up close and personal to sea planes and other vessels like the cheery Aquabus. We usually take the Aquabus (which I strongly recommend) over to Granville Island when we visit Vancouver, so it was fun to see it this way for a change.
Sea Planes
I love watching he planes take off and land, and it’s even more fascinating to me from the water. You also get pretty close to big freighters, you see how small you really are out there. It was also nice to go under all the bridges–they look so different when you’re under them, so massive.
The Sights
In about 90 minutes, you get a nice overview the city, including Stanley Park, English Bay, Coal Harbor, and the North Shore. You’ll probably see some wildlife, and if you are really lucky, whales (we didn’t see any on our tour, but our skipper said they had been seeing a lot of whales lately).
Sea Vancouver Zodiac Tour Bottom Line
Defiantly book a Sea Vancouver Zodiac Tour, don’t even hesitate. It’s a thrilling, exhilarating way to get a different look at Vancouver. It took us many visits before we could actually get on one because of weather. They won’t sail if it’s not safe, but they do sail year round, you just wear a special suit when it’s cold. It would be wise to make a reservation ahead of time because these tours are very popular and fill up fast. Find out more on the Sea Vancouver Zodiac Tour website HERE.
