Cafe Medina in Vancouver, BC is a must for brunch. Prepare to stand in line because it’s so popular there is usually a wait. But it’s worth it. This is Mediterranean soul food that makes you feel deeply satisfied. It’s a bustling place, but somehow intimate.
On a rainy day, Cafe Medina is a cozy oasis filled with comfort food, wonderful smells and happy people. Food comes lightning fast, so once you are inside, the wait isn’t very long. Besides, I could have spent all day in there, so the longer it took to eat, for me, the better.
Waffles
Waffles are fresh and fluffy and delicious. The best part of ordering waffles is the different sauces you get to dip them in. Everything from Chocolate Lavender to Passion Fruit and Salted Caramel–it just elevates the waffle experience big time. We had a traditional Cappuccino and a Green Tea Latte and both were delicious.
Atmosphere
I fell in love with the atmosphere immediately. It’s gorgeous. A little bit industrial looking, but still very cozy and warm. The owner told me that one of the people that helped with the design also works on movie sets, and I could definitely see that.
Savory
There are plenty of savory items to choose from (more savory than sweet I would say). I like a little of both but usually prefer savory. This is the Fricassée Champignon with Roasted King Oyster Mushrooms, Roasted Potatoes, Chevre, and Arugula with a slice of Grilled Focaccia. I shared this with my son and it was pleasing and plenty enough for both of us.
Cafe Medina would be my first choice for brunch in Vancouver. It’s located in the Library District, within easy reach of the waterfront where we usually stay. Find out more on the website here.
