The Maven Hotel wows you as soon as you walk through the door, and it doesn’t stop until you leave. As you make your way to the front desk to check in, you encounter a giant wood carved hand suspended from the ceiling, a shiny Airstream camper, and a yarn wrapped tree.

The Lobby

Decor is modern and rustic. Cow hide rugs, leather furniture, marble and cement blend beautifully. If you scanned my brain for the first hour I was there, my pleasure centers would all be lit up like a Christmas tree. This is some serious design-geek material.

The Airstream

I have a major thing for Airstreams (who doesn’t?) and seeing one inside the hotel was a thrill. It’s part of the restaurant and in the mornings, they serve muffins and coffee to Maven guests from the Airstream. Doesn’t get cooler than that.

The Floors

The floors alone had me in a swoon. Look at them! All those different patterns and materials, aren’t they gorgeous?

The Foxes

Speaking of floors, each floor at the Maven has a fox. They are all different, charming, dapper foxes by artist Karrie York. This hotel features over 400 works of original art by Colorado artists, and it is fascinating to roam around and discover all the different pieces. The foxes are my favorites and I think they give you a reason to visit each floor. That and the swings.

These are functional swings that were built into the building and can withstand any weight. I want one of these swings in my house. Note that even the hall lights create a geometric design on the wall. Room numbers are forged out of nails (you can see a photo in the gallery below).

The Room

This is one of those rooms that garners “oohs” and “ahhhs” when you enter. I love the industrial look. Cement ceilings, an urban city view, mixed textures like marble and steel…you know these things make me giddy. A comfortable gray flannel sofa offers up a great place to chill and take in the atmosphere.

Behind the bed is a desk with a leather counter and a bar stool. It’s a handy work space that doubles as a headboard. To the left of the bed are USB ports and a nifty reading lights on either side.

The Bath

A barn door leads to the bath, with a round tub and fantastic black tiling behind it. The same pattern repeats in the shower which has a spa style shower-head.

Under-mount sinks and a charcoal counters continue the warehouse look. I like how the faucets are mounted to the wall. I took a bath in that tub and it was wonderful.

Cuddly robes are luxurious to relax in post-bath. You can make a pour-over coffee to sip in one of their cool buffalo mugs, and get refreshed before heading out to explore the city.

Dog Friendly

The Maven Hotel is dog friendly. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a more dog friendly city than Denver. It’s wonderful to have your dog with you, and it’s really nice to stay at a luxurious beautiful hotel that welcomes canine family members.

Poka Lola Social Club

The bar, aka Poka Lola Social Club is grand. The floors are spectacular and the decor reminds me of the 1920’s. It’s romantic and elegant and the bar celebrates American soda fountain culture. A cocktail comes with your room.

Kuchina Southwestern Grill

The restaurant inside the Maven Hotel, Kachina Southwestern Grill, is excellent. You have to have a meal there while staying at the Maven. Food is locally sourced and inspired by the Four-Corners region of Southwest America.

I want to go back and try different things. The menu has so many interesting options it’s impossible to taste everything that intrigues you in one meal. You can read about my experience at Kachina HERE.

The Maven Hotel Bottom Line

The Maven Hotel is now one of my favorite hotels in Denver. One of my favorite hotels period. It’s exploding with fabulous design that will make you dizzy with delight. This is a one-of-a-kind experience with easy access to some of the best Denver has to offer. The location at LoDo’s historic Dairy Block is desirable. This is a cool neighborhood that is still developing with plans of more eateries and shops. It’s only going to get better. The Maven’s proximity to Union Station makes it easy to get to, just hop on the light rail at the airport, and it’s just a couple blocks from where you exit at the train station. The only thing I didn’t absolutely love about this hotel was that I didn’t have enough time there. It’s a Denver must. Find out more on the Maven’s website.
