The JW Marriott Cherry Creek, Denver is a luxury hotel offering easy access to all the wonderful things the Cherry Creek neighborhood has to offer.
The Lobby
A warm, welcoming lobby with a fireplace, caramel wood floors, tree-trunk tables, and turquoise leather chairs offers a cozy space to hang out. There’s plenty of seating and it’s a great place for meet-ups.
The Room
We had a lovely view of the mountains from our room. Blue walls and floors, white headboards and modern design create a comfortable atmosphere.
The Food
The JW Marriott Denver really shines in this department, the food is excellent at the on-site restaurant, Second Home. It would be worth going here even if you are staying at another hotel because the atmosphere is great and the wood fired Sourdough Pizza is to die for. It was so good we had to have it twice while we were there. We heard about the famous home-made apple pie, and we really wanted to try it, but the pizza was so delicious we saved all stomach space for that.
The patio has a fire pit, red umbrellas, and bistro lights. It’s a wonderful place to unwind, and I always say food tastes much better alfresco. We were not expecting the pizza to be so good–I’m convinced the altitude in Denver makes for amazing pizza crust, but this crust was sourdough, and it’s doubly fantastic.
The indoor atmosphere is also nice, I love the dim lighting and the back wall is covered in wine bottles. We speculated how much that wall was worth, it looks expensive while casting a warm glow over the room.
Club Room
The club room is a well appointed room with great city and mountain views. There is a breakfast, and an evening appetizer spread. Later on at night, they have chocolate chip cookies.Throughout the day, they offer drinks like coffee (there’s a cappuccino machine) and soft drinks.
They had tiny little kale salads the first night we were there which were delicious. They always had vegetables like carrot and celery sticks in hummus dip as well as fresh fruit, and I appreciated healthy options. They also had a hot breakfast my son enjoyed, and at dinner, there were appetizers like shrimp garnished with orchids, cheese, and crackers.
Location
Cherry Creek is an upscale neighborhood in Denver, but it feels laid back and relaxed. There’s a walking/bike path along the creek, and it’s beautiful. I once saw a red fox there. If you like shopping, you’ll find some of your favorite stores within two blocks. There are stores we all know, like Crate and Barrel and Anthropologie, and there are some quirky little boutiques as well. Whole Foods Market is a block away for those of you who, like me, enjoy eating healthy while traveling. It’s nice to know you can grab a green juice to mitigate indulgence. At night, the area is wonderful to walk around and there are night-life options for people who want to go out after dinner.
There are so many wonderful places to eat within two blocks of this hotel that it’s hard to choose. Especially since the in-house restaurant is so good and it’s tempting to keep going back to Second Home. We ate at one of my favorite restaurants–True Food Kitchen. They have amazing Kale Salad and the pizza is excellent.
Dog Friendly
Cherry Creek, like everywhere else I’ve been in Denver is extremely dog friendly. This hotel welcomes canines and the neighborhood is great for walking your dog. They even had a squeaky toy for our dog which she got very excited about, and she is still playing with it. I love it when the hotel we’re staying at includes our dog in the welcome amenities, there’s something extra sweet about that. The shops around Cherry Creek are super dog friendly too, even the fancy ones. They have dog treats on hand and welcome you in. It was really fun to have our dog with us everywhere and to see other dogs too.
JW Marriott Cherry Creek Bottom Line
There are two really good reasons to stay here. The amazing sourdough pizza at Second Home, and the Cherry Creek location. It’s a dog, kid and work friendly hotel with a knowledgable, friendly staff that makes you feel at home. I had several great conversations with staff who are personable and just really cool people that were a pleasure to interact with. This hotel also offers a complimentary car service (available at specific times) which is handy for seeing sights within a couple of miles. Find out more on the hotel website.
