The Boca Resort and Club in Boca Raton, Florida, is a sprawling 356-acre property offering old fashioned southern charm on one side of the intracoastal waterway, and sleek sexy modern luxury on the other. It has multiple architecturally different accommodation styles like the Yacht Club, the Bungalows, the Tower, Beach Club and more traditional rooms in “The Cloister,” designed in 1926 by famous Palm Beach architect Addison Mizner. A complimentary shuttle or boat will take you back and forth, and regardless of which you style you choose, you have access to all amenities.
The Room
We stayed at The Boca Beach Club, which is the modern beachside part of the resort. Our room was fresh and luxe with great views of the ocean. The bathroom was big and bright with fresh white and gray marble. The room felt crisp and energizing with pretty blues and bright white in the main part of the room which had a comfy chaise in the corner for relaxing and looking out the window at the beautiful ocean view. Lots of glass and a feeling of chic modernity.
The Pool
There are seven pools on the property. The pools at the Beach Club are on the water, so you can still enjoy the ocean. We had a cabana which is like a mini hotel room and includes private shower, bathroom and flat screen tv. The ocean is just a few steps from the resort and I would encourage you to enjoy the beach. It’s full of shells and it’s fun to beach comb, especially with kids.
The Food
The food we had at the Boca Resort was excellent. I’m still thinking about the Crab Cake Sandwich and Mojito I enjoyed seaside at Beaches Restaurant under the palm trees. Best Mojitos Ever, chock full of mint.
Everything we tasted, including Fish Tacos and Spring Rolls was wonderful, but oh those crab cakes… It’s a family friendly setting and they offer meals for children served in colorful beach pails and salads in giant clear martini shakers which makes a fun presentation.
For dinner, we ate at The Blue, located at the top of the tower. It is a fancier setting with spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding area. It’s a contemporary place, with fun modern decor and a fabulous menu. When we walked in the door, they had huge crab legs displayed standing straight up in ice. My son said, “Wow! I want that!” And they were really good–we ordered off the Claw Bar menu (fun, right?), and we had a delicious fried green tomato salad, and lobster. My son had funnel cake for dessert. Where have you ever seen funnel cake on a menu at a fine restaurant?
Our server was conversational and told us stories about the films that were made at the resort (a really bad one with Jennifer Lopez) and how Million Dollar Listing Miami was there recently filming in the restaurant. The resort is a celebrity magnet apparently.
The Boca Resort Spa
A key part of the resort is the spa. If you stay here, I strongly recommend treating yourself,The Boca Raton Resort & Club boasts one of the top spas in the country and the second you walk through the door, you see why. It’s lavish and opulent. The signature ritual bath and massage at the Boca Resort Spa was one of the most unique spa treatments I’ve ever experienced.
The bath takes place in decadent surroundings of mosaic tiles and Spanish-Moorish architecture built to resemble Spain’s Alhambra Palace. When I arrived in the bath area in my robe, an attendant was there to guide me from shower to bath to the bigger spa bath, telling me exactly what to do along the way. I’m pretty modest, but never felt uncomfortable or exposed.
When I was in my private bath I felt like I was on a Game of Thrones set. It felt extravagant and like I had stepped into another time. Plenty of water and fruit was always available to keep hydrated. After the bath experience, I was taken to another part of the spa for the massage.
The spa has its own private pool and offers a healthy spa menu to enjoy post treatment. I didn’t have time to check that out, but it was calling to me. I would recommend this to anyone and think that it would make a wonderful activity to mark a special occasion like a girl’s weekend, wedding or honeymoon.
The Boca Resort Bottom Line
This resort, one of the oldest in Florida, has AAA Four-Diamond status and offers something for everyone including the Camp Boca and Quest Club for children (put them in there while you enjoy the spa), seven pools, golf, tennis, and a marina. If you don’t feel like relaxing, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy. Find out more on the resort’s website.
