Boise Brewing is an unassuming microbrewery that has the best beer I’ve ever tasted. As I write this, I have a coveted growler under my feet (I’m on the airport shuttle) that you’d have to wrestle from me to get to. It’s probably the best, most interesting beer I’ve ever had and it’s called Red Velvet Cream. Tastes just like Red Velvet Cake and it’s amazing. Believe me, for me to check a bag to bring something home, it’s going to be something really special.
I’m picky about my food and drink and I liked every single beer in my flight. But I went gah-gah for the Red Velvet Cream. I’m obsessed. If I lived in Boise, I’d have a growler in my fridge at all times. There’s some kind of magic going on there with that brew.
The atmosphere is laid back. It’s a small place, with a lot of heart. People are mixed ages, it seems to appeal to everyone. There’s a tiny dog-welcoming patio in front, next to bike racks. This is a community-owned brewery and you can see the names of the owners on the mugs on the walls. The place is teeming with good energy.
The brews get their labels from local artists. Isn’t that cool? They’re framed and hanging on the wall near the mugs. There’s an upstairs too, and as you’re coming down the stairs, you get a nice, industrial microbrewery view.
I feel like Boise Brewing is one of those places, where, if someone didn’t tell you about it and you didn’t know to go there, you might miss it. But once you experience it, you want to go back all the time. It’s an instant favorite. I actually went back for another pint of Red Velvet Cream (it’s located a block from the hotel I was staying at).
If you visit Boise and you enjoy beer, Boise Brewing is a must. I’m telling you, I’ve never liked so many beers from one microbrewery and that Red Velvet is crazy, insanely, cult-followingly good. Find out more about this wonderful brewery on their website.
