Patagonia makes the most awesome outerwear. Last year I recommended this down vest and I can’t tell you how often I wear it, it’s a staple. Yet it still looks brand new. I think that will be the case with the new Patagonia Silent Down Parka. This coat reminds me a lot of the Down With It from about 10 years ago, only better.
It isn’t overly puffy like some down coats that make you look like the Michelin Man, it has beautiful figure flattering lines that make you look sleek. I love that it’s not bulky, this makes it great for travel.
The Silent Down Parka has a hood (you don’t see it in the images) that tucks into the collar. It has drawcords so it will stay in place in the wind. The two-way zipper is handy for when you’re riding a bike or any other time you need to loosen the bottom up for comfort. This is such a convenient feature that I’ve become used to that I really notice when a jacket doesn’t have it.
Your bum stays warm in this coat because it comes down nice and long. I’m 5’5 and it hits me just a hair above my knees. Inner cuffs have a band that seals around your wrist (not tightly) to keep the wind out and the collar has a band of fleece for extra comfort. The inner zip pocket is large enough to hold my iPhone plus, and there are two hand pockets on either side.
I’m crazy about this coat. This is going to get so much wear from me, and it’s made so well I know I will be wearing it in a decade. As for sizing, I wear an 8/10 and the large fits great with plenty of room for bulk underneath. Find the Patagonia Silent Down Parka HERE.
