Anybody going camping for spring break? If you’re like me, you get a thrill out of cooking outside. Look at this cool GCI Outdoors Master Cook Station. This is perfect for gourmet cooking, or just burgers and dogs for the family. When I go camping, I bring ingredients for several meals and cook up a storm under the trees. It’s fun. I enjoy it way more than cooking at home. We’ve made pasta dishes, teriyaki, black beans and rice, stir fry, Indian food, Mexican food, pancakes….oh I can’t even remember all the stuff I’ve made while camping–lots.
It’s the same principal as food tasting better alfresco, prep is also better. But when you are equipped with something like this, it’s really luxurious. This is a particularly nice set up with a ton of space for chopping vegetables and doing all the things you do in your home kitchen.
There’s a handy place for your paper towels, on the end just where you want it. There’s a place for a lantern to hang which comes in very handy when it gets dark. And there’s even a sink. Let’s talk about the sink, this is the one thing I was so intrigued by, but in person I would not use it for washing dishes unless I had my Rinse Kit with me because I wouldn’t want to clean it. I wish it detached. But, it is located under one of the counter panels and I think it would be great for storing vegetables (even washing them) or filling it with ice for drinks. I just wouldn’t want to have to try to get bits of food out of there. For water or ice only, it’s fine.
Three fold out side table offer a place to keep your drinks, plates, and utensils. There’s a big wire shelf that fits a small cooler or your pots and pans. Another thing I love about this cook station is its height. It’s nice and tall at 68 inches, so for me at 5’5 it’s very comfortable and I’m not hunched over at all.
This kitchen is easy to set up and take down. It’s one piece, so you don’t have to put anything together, you just unfold it. At 23lbs, it’s not too much for me to manage by myself, and there is a cloth handle on the side for carrying. I like it a lot better than the other camp kitchen I was using because it’s bigger, yet much faster to set up and take down–literally less than one minute.
GCI makes quality stuff. I’ve been so happy with all my GCI gear, and it looks great too. A Charcoal gray steel coated frame looks so handsome with the lighter gray aluminum counter tops, it’s a beautiful set up. Find the GCI Outdoors Master Cook Station HERE.
